World of Wifi

World of Wifi

This past week-end we traveled for a family reunion.  We had a wonderful time!  My family had a chance to spend some R & R with Amy and her family.  So where does the wifi come in?
Well we had a 5 hour car ride each way.  I am pleased to say that we did not use electronics to entertain the kids in the car!  Last summer we went on a similar car ride and brought the iPad, iPod, portable DVD player, leap pad . . . If it had batteries or could be charged we brought it with us.
What a mistake!  I promised myself I would not do that again.  The kids argued, yelled, and cried!  Can you say stressful?  Well, my husband can.

We got in the car with NO electronics this time and had such an enjoyable car ride each way!
Yep! That is right! We enjoyed a 5 hour car ride with 2 kids!
So what did we do for 5 hours?
We talked about whatever the kids wanted to talk about, we sang, we played games and oh yeah the kids took a nap.
I vow not to bring electronics in the again!!

How do you entertain your kids when you travel?

M.I.A.

Missing In Action

Last week I was asked if I still do healthy not crazy.  Well the truth be told,  since my kidney stones I have gained 30 pounds, and have been struggling with "how can I write if I am not there?"  Do I still care about what I eat?  Of course I do!  Do I still try to eat healthy? Of course I do!  So what is it? Why have I gained 30 pounds that I can NOT shake?
  Hmmmm. . .
So what has been going on to get me where I am today? Life! Duh!
Wake up, Lisa!
Life happens to everyone!
We all do not have the same things going on in life however we all have something that is going on in our own life.  I am not going to bore you with my excuses, lets face it, I have been using "life stress" as an excuse.  I am here today to stop making excuses!
Sooooooo. . .
 Who is with me?!?!

wow! i have learned sooo much.  i have learned what a negative effect sugar of ALL kinds has on your body.  I learned that i miss my fruit!! i learned that you can do so much with veggies.  i learned how your body breaks down sugar.  i learned that i didn't really miss my carbs. and so much more!

a little of me

weight was never an issue for me until 2003 when i got divorced.  i never worried about what i ate, and never paid attention to the scale. so what, happened?!?!

well i got married at a very young age and was divorced three years later.  then it happen . . . i ate and drank my way through the whole big D.  and a year later the pounds started to pile on.  a little while later i started a "diet".  it was all going well then i became pregnant.  during my pregnancy i gained  60 freaking pounds, yes you read that right 60 pounds... well i had the best thing in the world, a daughter, but how did i get rid of the weight, not just the baby weight but the weight i gained from my big D?  i did it, i got rid of my baby weight, but that was is it.  then in 2009 i became prego again and had the other best thing happen to me, i had a son.  i was so happy! i meet my soul mate and we had 2 wonderful children.

after the birth of my son i hit the most i had ever been on the scale,  ugh.... so i started my weight loss adventure yet again.  i was doing amazing!! then this past summer i got kidney stones. and i was told i had to change my diet.  you see i was eating a ton of cheese, yogurt, milk, green leafy veggies.  you ask what was wrong with that. my kidney stones were calcium.  so when i was told i had to change my diet i reverted back to my old ways.  so here we are, i gain 30 pounds back and now i am on the right track yet again(it better be my last).

where am i going with this?  today i am starting a 21 day sugar detox!  i know, what am i, crazy? maybe.  i will let you know!  so far so good, however it has not even been 24 hours and i am starting with a head ache.  wish me luck and i will keep you posted along the next 21 days!

you scream, i scream, we all scream for . . .

you scream, i scream, we all scream for SMOOTHIES!

we are all about smoothies. we use one of my favorite kitchen appliances, the ninja, to make our smoothies.  we use our really ripe fruit as our liquid then add frozen fruit . . . that is it.  i hear all about other people adding things like peanut butter and rolled oats.  do you scream smoothies?  if so what do you use?

proud mama!

proud mama!

last night both my kiddo's made me a proud mama!  i hate to admit it, however every night before bed my kids have a "bed time snack".  last night when i asked what they wanted my six year old said "a red pear" (red pears are her favorite).  so of course my two year old follows his big sister and also wants red pear.  between the two of them they ate three pears.  i love that they are choosing fruit!!

what is your families favorite fruit?
