a little of me

weight was never an issue for me until 2003 when i got divorced.  i never worried about what i ate, and never paid attention to the scale. so what, happened?!?!

well i got married at a very young age and was divorced three years later.  then it happen . . . i ate and drank my way through the whole big D.  and a year later the pounds started to pile on.  a little while later i started a "diet".  it was all going well then i became pregnant.  during my pregnancy i gained  60 freaking pounds, yes you read that right 60 pounds... well i had the best thing in the world, a daughter, but how did i get rid of the weight, not just the baby weight but the weight i gained from my big D?  i did it, i got rid of my baby weight, but that was is it.  then in 2009 i became prego again and had the other best thing happen to me, i had a son.  i was so happy! i meet my soul mate and we had 2 wonderful children.

after the birth of my son i hit the most i had ever been on the scale,  ugh.... so i started my weight loss adventure yet again.  i was doing amazing!! then this past summer i got kidney stones. and i was told i had to change my diet.  you see i was eating a ton of cheese, yogurt, milk, green leafy veggies.  you ask what was wrong with that. my kidney stones were calcium.  so when i was told i had to change my diet i reverted back to my old ways.  so here we are, i gain 30 pounds back and now i am on the right track yet again(it better be my last).

where am i going with this?  today i am starting a 21 day sugar detox!  i know, what am i, crazy? maybe.  i will let you know!  so far so good, however it has not even been 24 hours and i am starting with a head ache.  wish me luck and i will keep you posted along the next 21 days!

you scream, i scream, we all scream for . . .

you scream, i scream, we all scream for SMOOTHIES!

we are all about smoothies. we use one of my favorite kitchen appliances, the ninja, to make our smoothies.  we use our really ripe fruit as our liquid then add frozen fruit . . . that is it.  i hear all about other people adding things like peanut butter and rolled oats.  do you scream smoothies?  if so what do you use?

proud mama!

proud mama!

last night both my kiddo's made me a proud mama!  i hate to admit it, however every night before bed my kids have a "bed time snack".  last night when i asked what they wanted my six year old said "a red pear" (red pears are her favorite).  so of course my two year old follows his big sister and also wants red pear.  between the two of them they ate three pears.  i love that they are choosing fruit!!

what is your families favorite fruit?

how do you cut the fruit?

how do you cut the fruit?  and no i don't mean cut out the fruit. how do you cut mango's?!?!

i love them, everything about them. . .however how do you cut them?  the dam pit always gets in my way and i feel as though i waste more then i cut.  i use them in smoothies, juice them and eat them straight up.  i love them!  i have been buying them frozen for the sole fact i hate cutting them.  do you eat mango's?  how do you cut them? what do you do with them?  i want to know!

Moo Moo Mr. Cow

I'm just gonna say it. Raw milk.
Yes we bought some. Yes we tried it. Yes we liked it and drank the whole thing. And. YES, we bought MORE.
This, my friends, may be a little on the crazy side. After watching a documentary my husband and I were curious. Only one farm in our area sells it. It's all so controversial. But I'm liking the benefits raw milk is said to have. Our daughter has some tummy troubles so I'm anxious to see if there is a difference for her. I'll keep you posted!

Thanks for reading.

2 weeks in

2 weeks in . . .

well, over the last 2 weeks i have done some reading, research, and watching documentaries.  so what have i learned?  i have learned that for me and my family, have made and continue to make so many changes!

first we are all taking a pro biotic, multi-vitiem and a couple other vitamins. i was never a big believer in vitamins.  i eat fruits and veggies, why do i need to take them? that is what i use to think.  however we need to fix the damage we have done to our bodies. this is what i feel is right for my family, i am not a doctor.  if you think you need to take vitamin then you need to do you research.  i recently watch food matters. WOW! that is all i am saying.

so i also learned so much more over these last 2 weeks and i will share some with you soon.

bottom line we have all heard "you are what you eat"  just something to think about!

h2o

h2o. . . whats the deal with water? we know our bodies need it. we know its healthy for us.  however how much are we suppose to drink a day?  i have heard several different things.  i heard 6-8 glasses a day, until you pee clear, and take your weight divide it by half and drink that in oz.  so what is the truth?  i don't know. can someone help with this!

life style or diet

is it a life style or is it a diet?  in my opinion it is a life style.  my family has been in the process of changing our eating habits and have so much more to do.  this has been such an eye opener!

we recently have been trying to cut back on gluten.  you hear so much about gluten. what is gluten?  what has gluten in it?  how does gluten affect my body? these are all questions i wondered.

after doing some research i decided that we needed to go gluten free.  then i thought i was out of my mind.  so here we are and i made some changes.  i found chocolate chip cookies that are gluten and dairy free for my daughter.  i found a cereal that everyone in the family likes, that is gluten free!  while i was at the food store i realized how much food is out there that is gluten free.  now my next mission is to find a GOOD bread recipe that is gluten free.

so gluten free is not for everyone!  here are some changes that i have notice in my family.  less mood swings, (and i am talking about other family members then just myself),  the ability to focus, and overall more pleasant.

day one . . . again

day one . . . again

this morning after getting a cup or two of coffee, i got the trusty crock pot down off the shelf and got dinner started.  i think that was one of my "screw ups"over the last couple of months.  dinner, we ate a ton of unhealthy crap.  there is no other way to put it.  life happen in september, i started college, ccd, gymnastic, homework, and life.  my time was extremely limited and i simply did not plan dinner time well.

so tonight a healthy dinner for us!  back to the basics.  there will be planning for dinners once again.  i would love to hear how everyone else plans their family dinners.
